This is the second time I’ve been to the resort of Garmisch Partenkirchen and although the sun was blazing, the slopes were powdery and pleasant. Split into two parts, the resort is a good mid-ranger, both in size and price and packed with locals, Dutch and Americans (due to an army base nearby). Although not accessible by skiing to the lower slopes due to the lack of snow since December, you can drive or take the scenic alpine railway to the Zugspitze – the highest point in Germany. It’s a glorious mountain range surrounded by forests and lakes. The town itself is also easy to navigate around with traditional Bavarian architecture food and a slight vibe of the Brothers Grimm. We were also treated to some German slap dancing in one of the restaurants. Bonus!
