Goose UK triumphed at the prestigious Professional Clothing Awards ceremony 2016 held this summer in London’s ExCel, by winning the category for Best Managed Major Contract for the Clydesdale and Yorkshire Bank ( CYB ) uniform. The judges awarded Goose UK 100% full marks, which is the first time ever at this event.
Hayley Sommerscales, Editor of The Professional Clothing Awards, who was involved in the judging day remarked: “The Clydesdale Yorkshire Bank Uniform stood out to the judges and made a lasting impression, (I can still picture the product now) it was very impressive showing intensive research, design, development wear testing and production. The contract succeeded in its intention to re-evaluate and modernize the current uniform to work in harmony with their new brand direction.” We learned that the other judges unanimously voted for Goose, as the outright winner for the first time in the Award’s history.
Goose UK were brought into the project by The Partners, who were involved in the major rebrand for CYB. The role of Goose was to research, conceptualise and design the uniform and then to develop it with Corprotex, who were selected because of their willingness and ability to take on the new direction.
Taking on board the heritage and values of the bank and their major strapline ‘We care about here’, it was at this point that Goose suggested working with a Yorkshire mill and a graduate from the Glasgow school of Art so their corporate values stood firm and they supported their local industry rather than getting another ‘named’ designer. At Goose they believed they could deliver the balance of functionality and trend from their experience of fashion and sportswear combined, but also give the brand a genuine and interesting story to talk about. A new direction and focus for CYB.
Laura Davidson, Advertising Marketing Manager for CYBG, shared the excitement of the win “Working with Goose on our new Uniform has been a fantastic experience. From the creation of the fabrics themselves to the individual garment designs and practicalities, their experience and knowledge has been invaluable. We are so proud that they won the Best Managed Major Contract at the Professional Clothing Awards – extremely well deserved.”
Every year the Professional Clothing Awards receives entries from around the globe with applicants hoping to be awarded a prize at the industry’s biggest night of the year. The event was attended by over 400 guests and hosted by Olympic medallist Sharon Davies, MBE. This year Goose Design entered for the first time submitting their work designing the new Uniform for The Clydesdale Yorkshire Bank; and won the Award for The Best Managed Major Contract. The award recognises the best in showcasing high profile contracts that are managed seamlessly from start to finish.
Jenni Arksey, Managing Director & Owner of Goose UK stated that
